Biograph

Liisa Tuimala was born in 1986. She lives and works in Luvia, Finland, where her deep connection to the sea and the coastal landscape profoundly influences her art. This passion for the marine environment inspires her to create evocative seascapes that resonate with emotion and memory.

Liisa paints primarily in oils and approaches her work with great dedication and seriousness. She is captivated by the moods and atmospheres of the sea, striving to depict marine landscapes that touch the viewer on a deeply personal level.

“I am inspired by the interplay of light, color, and the ever-changing nature of the sea. My goal is to convey not just a visual representation, but a feeling — an echo of memories and the timeless connection between humanity and the ocean.”

Liisa often embarks on kayaking trips to the outer archipelago, seeking inspiration and new perspectives for her work. These journeys allow her to experience the untamed beauty of the sea firsthand, which she brings to life in her studio in Luvia.
